The Internet censorship is here in the USA!!!
Today, Washington lawmakers are considering 17 seperate laws concerning restricting and censoring internet access in the United States. A simular law was enacted in the UK restricting free access to the internet and monitoring ALL internet connections. This is not constitutional under US law. Please pass this message along and help stop this before it gets put into law.

Reply: People need to act now (yesterday) to resist this not just politically but at the technological level. They are not going to stop. It will happen faster than you think.
People need to prepare with 1) knowledge and skills* 2) actual technology tools 3) networking and coordination.
Without #3 it's totally useless. You have to put away this "individualism" bs and stop waiting until tomorrow to make connections with real people, and using tech YOU CONTROL like GPG / SSH / LINUX / RNS / ETC to prepare for them bringing down the hammer.
*that includes history (pdfs etc) and learning to program. And don't forget that learning skills is 1000x more effective with other people!

Reply: Well said, socrates. Good advice that applies not only to the digital world, but other aspects of life as well. I'd start with #3, builing relations with likeminded people in your part of the real world.

Reply: while I'm certainly of the same mindset but, looking at the focus of these restrictions (corporate centralized platforms) I'd say the place to start is to not use those platforms. Accept the opportunity loss from whatever it means to not be in twitter, YT, etc and over to places like RNS. If you're livelyhood comes from the those platforms, I'm sorry to hear that. In a way, draconian restrictions to those platforms is an opportunity to see who's in the matrix and who wants out.

Reply: I think the law is dumb, but believe it or not I think it'll have a positive effect on network privacy. It'll drive more folks to look into interesting solutions like Reticulum, which will drive further development of the tools required to stay off the clear-net and still get things done. I think I had a good metaphor for somewhere where this had happened already (technological arms race between governments and privacy advocates). Maybe encryption? It'll come back to me, I'm sure.

Reply: It's all part of their New World Order Agenda bull crap, and we shouldn't allow it to happen. This age verification is going to be just the start. They aren't concerned about Children. That's pretty much what the epstein files told us, yet now they care? Yeah right. It's going to make it easier for people to track down children. At least i use Linux.

Reply: Back when the Covid lockdowns happened I had a small community of people going, but everyone else seemed to burn out. I deleted all of my social media, felt great, but I've felt so disconnected now for so long. I do believe that there are people out there who don't want to take part in the jail-cell of a world being built right before there eyes, but people in my country seem so focused on just surviving right now. I am so glad to have found Reticulum and to have enough technical knowledge to know how to work with it, but not all do. Hoping to spread this tech to others, but have to find local people who are willing to listen

In fact, if you were to make a list of the most inhumane and idiotic initiatives — not just of this kind, but overall — this pretext would be near the top. The good news is that by the end of this year, many GOP lawmakers will be leaving their seats, and that will be a real chance to push back against this lawlessness. Also, even if it can’t be stopped entirely, age verification can be implemented in a way that doesn’t require handing over any identifying data about you, without violating your privacy. The minimum plan is to at least make sure that checks of this kind are implemented that way. The maximum plan is to force them to back down completely — and I don’t think calling that possible would be much of an exaggeration.

Reply: Man things seem to get worse and worse and yet nothing happens. Well if it does, it is happening very slowly. You can't search freely in the UK anymore, even your phone is locked down at the OS level. Facial recognition cameras and vans patrol the streets. People getting harrassed by the police for posting unfriendly things online (not talking about hate speech or inciting violence even). Anyway, it's gotten bad enough that I am looking for alternatives. Hopefully reticulum starts gaining more traction as the noose gets tighter.
